509 BMG: “Particular Request to All Good and Respectable Actual Niggaz (Cease Hatin)” Monitor Assessment

509 BMG is keeping two very important hip-hop staples alive: janky Family Guy cover art and jacked reggae beats. On “Special Request to All Nice and Decent Real Niggaz (Stop Hatin),” the short-tempered Orlando rapper lightens up 11 minutes of shit-talking internet trolls with five mellow beats for the bass culture heads. BMG isn’t keeping this online—he makes it clear that he’d pony up the gas money to drive down to Kissimmee or Opa-Locka over any mild inconvenience. I haven’t heard a rapper sound so genuinely pissed off since $ilkMoney dissed IcyTwat. And like the best in the punchline game, he can turn any pop culture reference into a threat, from ’90s Bulls guard Ron Harper to Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” to one of the Original Kings of Comedy: “My magazine hold bald heads and big teeth like Steve Harvey.” No matter how easygoing the instrumental, he doesn’t slow down. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a 10-minute-plus rap song since the last time RXK Nephew fell down a conspiratorial wormhole.
