A potential deal with the devil drives this new thriller coming to the Hertz Stage at the Alliance Theatre and billed as a “striking Southern gothic work” by The New York Times. It runs from October 8 through November 9.
The Ghastly Dreadfuls: Ancient Tales with Fresh Blood
It wouldn’t be the Halloween season without this annual compendium of spooky stories, which returns to the Center for Puppetry Arts October 8 through November 1.
Friday
Viktor&Rolf. Fashion Statements
At the High Museum of Art, this new exhibition will spotlight the work of Dutch fashion artists Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. The duo’s unconventional work has explored the boundaries between haute couture and art, and you can see it from October 10 through February 8.
Check out the composer and pianist whose solo piano track “I Giorni” became a hit single in the United Kingdom in 2011. He’ll bring The Summer Portraits Tour to the Fox Theatre on October 10.
It’s a big year for the ensemble that began as the Gwinnett Festival Singers in 1985, as this year marks 40 years since the group’s founding. In 2000, Dr. Eric Nelson joined as artistic director, so they’ll also be celebrating his 25 years at the helm. The chorale’s first show in the 2025-26 season is titled Homecoming — and for good reason. Nelson was on leave both from his position as the group’s director and his position as professor of music and director of choral studies at Emory University for the 2024-25 season and school year. He’s back behind the podium for the upcoming season. Homecoming will be performed at Emory’s Schwartz Center for Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on October 10 and October 11.
Crystal Skillman’s new play comes to Synchronicity Theatre from October 10 to November 2. It interrogates the dark side of the Apollo 11 mission — the project that put the first human on the moon — by focusing on the Nazi scientists who were recruited to the program following World War II.
Saturday
Based on the best-selling series from Dav Pilkey, the creator of Captain Underpants and Cat Kid Comic Club, this musical is about a hero with the head of a dog and the body of a cop and comes to the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center on October 11 and October 12.
Join the music-loving crowds at this annual community music festival in Decatur, where you’ll find performances in dozens of Oakhurst neighborhood porches and yards from noon until 7 p.m. on October 11.
This weekend marks the return of the biggest LGBTQ+ Festival in the South, filling the city with music, drag, dance, film and art under the banner of this year’s theme, “Rooted in Resilience.” The main event is the parade, which begins at noon on Sunday, October 12, at the Civic Center MARTA station and ends at Piedmont Park. Kimberly Akimbo, winner of the 2023 Tony for Best Musical, is based on David Lindsay-Abaire’s play of the same title and tells the story of a teenage girl who suffers from a condition that rapidly accelerates the aging process. Catch this touring production at the Fox Theatre from October 14 through October 18 … Burnaway will host Book // Zine, its inaugural art book and zine fair, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 11 at The Goat Farm … The next installment of the SCADFILM In Focus series will spotlight horror in a one-day event with panel discussions and screenings from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on October 10 … The Wire & Wood Alpharetta Songwriters Festival happens in downtown Alpharetta on October 10 and October 11, with more than 30 performances in a variety of genres along with a music-themed arts and crafts market … The fall edition of the twice-annual Festival on Ponce takes place October 10 and October 11 in Olmsted Linear Park and features fine arts and crafts along with folk and outsider art, local food and drink and children’s activities.
