Aimed Dance is proud to present the 6th annual Aimed Dance Summer Fest (ADSF) in partnership with the Lamar University Department of Theatre & Dance. ADSF is held July 6–18 bringing together choreographers, performers, students, and dance enthusiasts from across the U. S. for two weeks of artistic collaboration, training, and performances.
Outside of the two-week summer dance intensive, ADSF offers dancers of all levels a chance to engage in high-quality instruction and experience innovative contemporary dance works through the Open Community Classes and Festival Concert Series.
Members of the community are invited to participate in open dance classes held every Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Classes in Countertechnique, Gus Giordano Jazz, Modern, Improvisation, Jazz Funk, and more are open to all experience levels at a $15 drop-in rate. All classes are held in the LU Dance Annex.
“Audiences are most often surprised by the dances presented each summer in the concert series. The festival features a diverse lineup of professional choreographers and performers highlighting a wide range of creative voices and movement styles,” says Amy Elizabeth, Artistic Director of Aimed Dance.
The Festival Concert series includes two performance programs featuring new works each weekend. Festival Concert I is July 10 – 11. Festival Concert II is July 17 – 18. All performances will take place in the LU Studio Theatre preceded by an ArTalk with the guest choreographers presenting work starting at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for students, $20 general admission, and can be purchased at aimeddancetickets.ludus.com.
