Comings & Goings
Amy Watson has been named artistic director of Royal Danish Ballet, succeeding Nikolaj Hübbe on November 1. She had served in the role in an interim capacity since August.
Daniel Charon will step down as artistic director of Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company at the end of the season.
Rosie Lani Fiedelman and Duane Gosa have been named co-artistic directors of Jennifer Muller/The Works. General manager Katy Neely has been named executive director.
Anu Giri has been named the next executive director of English National Ballet, succeeding Patrick Harrison, who will step down at the end of the year to become The Royal Ballet School’s CEO, from January 6.
Jason Palmquist has been named interim executive director of The Washington Ballet.
At BODYTRAFFIC, Trey McIntyre has joined as creative partner and Lucinda Lent as executive consultant. Katie García and Joan Rodriguez have been named rehearsal directors.
National Ballet of Canada first soloist Chelsy Meiss will retire in December.
Awards & Honors
Shamel Pitts received the National Center for Choreographer-Akron’s Knight Choreography Prize, which includes a $30,000 unrestricted grant and $20,000 in programmatic support.
The 2024 Joe A. Calloway Award for excellence in choreography went to nicHi douglas for their work on pray at National Black Theatre and Ars Nova.
New Resource
Dance/NYC launched its Dance Workforce Directorya free, searchable online platform for dance workers, organizations, and businesses in the New York City area. A virtual information session will be hosted on November 13 during Dance/NYC’s next Field-Wide Call.
