Apple Brings Actual-Time Translation to AirPods with iOS 19

According to recent reports, Apple plans to introduce a groundbreaking real-time translation feature for AirPods later in 2025.

The innovative functionality will arrive with iOS 19 and enable seamless communication between people speaking different languages.

Users wearing AirPods will receive instant translations of foreign languages directly through their earbuds. They can respond in their native language while their iPhone translates and broadcasts the message through its speakers.

This technology builds upon Apple’s existing Translate app, which currently supports 19 languages and eliminates the need to pass devices back and forth during conversations.

The translation capability will work with existing AirPods models through a software update. Apple has not specified which exact models will support this feature, though most industry experts believe it will include at least the AirPods Pro 2.

Competitors like Google and Samsung already offer similar interpreter modes in their wireless earbuds.

Apple also develops third-generation AirPods Pro alongside another revolutionary model featuring built-in cameras. The camera-equipped version will use Apple Intelligence to analyze the surrounding environment and enhance spatial audio experiences.

The iOS 19 update represents Apple’s most significant software overhaul since iOS 7 launched in 2013.

Apple plans to completely redesign the interface with new icons, simplified menus, and smoother animations.

The new design draws inspiration from visionOS while maintaining familiar iPhone navigation patterns.

Apple will likely announce these changes at their Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2025. The official release should arrive in September alongside the iPhone 17 lineup. Industry analysts view this translation feature as another step toward breaking down global language barriers.

The translation functionality highlights Apple’s commitment to creating technology that solves practical everyday problems.

It particularly benefits travelers, international business professionals, and multilingual communities who regularly navigate language differences.

Apple continues to position AirPods beyond simple audio playback into intelligent wearable assistants for daily life.
