Roomies, have y’all ever wondered what it takes to get your name put on a street sign? For a select group of celebs, their legacies have earned them the rare honor of streets named after them in cities that pulse with their influence. These stars have left indelible marks on our culture, and their hometowns (or adopted cities) have paid tribute by etching their names into the urban landscape

Katt Williams
Cincinnati showed BIG love to comedy legend Katt Williams in April 2025 with “Katt Williams Way” in Avondale, where he came up. This street sign at Reading Road and Maple Avenue is a mic drop for his sharp humor. From his high-grossing comedy tours to the endless movies he’s starred in, Katt described this particular achievement as something that’s really touched him. “I’ve been in the business since 1995. This is the thing that means the most to me. Even if it’s honorary, I appreciate ‘Katt Williams Way,’” the 53-year-old said, per Balls Alert. Even fellow comedians Mo’Nique and Mark Curry pulled up to the ceremony to celebrate their friend’s big achievement.
Tupac Shakur
Tupac Shakur’s spirit is also lighting up the streets. In November 2023, Oakland renamed a stretch “Tupac Shakur Way,” 27 years after the rap icon was shot and killed in a Vegas drive-by. Pac’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, accepted the honor in the neighborhood he formerly repped. “Let his spirit live on the rest of these years in these streets and in your hearts,” she said at the event, per CBS News. Tupac wasn’t joking when he said all eyes on him, as the street (outside of his music) is sure to keep his legacy alive.

Rihanna
Rihanna boldly claimed her legacy when Barbados renamed her childhood street from Westbury New Road to “Rihanna Drive” in 2017 Fresh off smashing charts with ‘ANTI,’ building her now-billion-dollar Fenty empire and readying up her ANTI Tour, RiRi had a LOT on her plate. Yet, she still decided to fly home for the ceremony, indicating that this honor held great sentimental value to the island girl. And we all know how much Rihanna loves being in Barbados, so this made it all the more special.
Notorious BIG
Brooklyn doesn’t play when it comes to one of their rap legends, Biggie. In June 2019, he received a street named “Christopher Wallace Way” at the corner of Fulton Street and St. James Place. During his short-lived career, the Bedford native left an everlasting change on hip-hop as a whole thanks to his sharp lyrical flow and catchy beats. He also introduced us to Lil’ Kim so, in addition to his timeless catalog, he definitely deserved this honor, y’all.
Will Smith
Back in March 2025, West Philadelphia unveiled “Will Smith Way” near Will Smith’s old high school, celebrating his come-up from rapper to movie star. Will got all in his feelings at the ceremony, shouting out his 10th-grade teacher who helped him land the nickname Fresh Prince. “She called me ‘Prince,’ and I added the ‘Fresh’ because it was hip-hop slang. So the Fresh Prince. So thank you for that, Mrs. Brown,” he said, per Complex.
Wendy Williams
Talk about a flex that hits different. Back in 2014, Wendy Williams got the ultimate birthday glow-up for her big 5-0. Her hometown of Asbury Park, New Jersey, showed all the way out by renaming a street after her. Central Avenue at Third Avenue, which is Wendy Williams’ childhood street, now has the words Wendy Williams Way written across the sign in bold. She was joined by her Wendy crew, who captured the once-in-a-lifetime moment that was later featured on her talk show, and it was everything.
