DETROIT — At Automate 2025 today, Orbbec Inc. unveiled the Gemini 435Le, the latest addition to its stereo vision lineup. The Troy, Mich.-based company said it delivers substantial enhancements for industrial applications and offers leading depth-sensing performance.

“The Gemini 435Le represents another important milestone in our pursuit of industrial-grade 3D vision excellence,” stated Brad Suessmith, robotics sales manager at Orbbec. “It’s not about disrupting for the sake of disruption, but about delivering highly adaptable, high-performance solutions that empower customers to succeed across even the most diverse and fragmented industrial automation scenarios.”

Founded in 2013, Orbbec is a leading provider of robotics and artificial intelligence vision, offering products that it said deliver performance and value spanning structured light, stereo vision, time-of-flight (ToF), and lidar technologies. The company claimed that its technology powers robotics, manufacturing, logistics, retail, 3D scanning, health tech, and fitness systems.

With in-house research and development, a state-of-the-art factory, supply chain management, and global support, Orbbec said it also offers OEM engagements for custom and embedded designs specifically tailored for robotics applications.

Gemini 435Le includes sensing improvements

As robotics applications expand into more complex and precise scenarios, the market demands higher accuracy and greater reliability in 3D perception, noted Orbbec. Drawing on more than a decade of experience, the company said it designed the Gemini 435Le not to disrupt, but to complement its product portfolio.

Orbbec asserted that the new system addresses the technology gap between high-demand and fragmented use cases, with a focus on precision and adaptability. It also listed the following key features of the Gemini 435Le:

Long-range, high-precision sensing: Optimized for robotic vision, the Gemini 435Le provides low-noise, high-density depth data even while in motion, said Orbbec. This is crucial for large robots such as forklifts to achieve stable positioning, navigation, precise obstacle avoidance, and object recognition in complex environments, significantly enhancing robotic path planning efficiency.
Reproduction of object edges and contours: Even with intricate object contours, Gemini 435Le can accurately reproduce target edges and effectively identify pallets made from various materials, meeting high-precision recognition and measurement needs. Orbbec said that visitors to its booth at Automate can see direct performance comparisons in which Gemini 435Le will outputs complete depth images in complex, mixed-material scenes. It asserted that this will demonstrate its environmental adaptability and sharp, distortion-free geometric edges for smoother, clearer object contours.
Scene-configurable depth modes for flexible adaptation: Gemini 435Le comes with multiple preset depth modes and supports easy switching through software configuration.

New system supports multiple perception modes

For example, in AMR Perception Mode, the camera prioritizes depth data completeness and stability, optimizing for autonomous mobile robot (AMR) navigation and obstacle avoidance.

In Dimensioning Mode, the Gemini 435Le can deliver highly accurate edge imaging of palletseven in low-light “dark factory” environments or under complex lighting conditions, said Orbbec.

“With versatile functionality consolidated into a single device, Gemini 435Le significantly reduces customers’ hardware costs and simplifies system integration,” the company said. “Users can easily switch modes through a straightforward SDK interface, effectively addressing imaging challenges in emerging, fragmented application scenarios across industries.”

For industrial-grade reliability, the Gemini 435Le features IP67 protection against dust and water, has passed rigorous electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, operates stably across a wide temperature range (-10°C to 50°C), and meets ESD Class A standards for vibration and shock resistance. Orbbec said this ensures long-term, dependable operation in harsh industrial environments.

Orbbec expands global channel network

As a key element of its global business expansion strategy, Orbbec announced new partnerships with five leading technology distributors to strengthen its worldwide 3D vision ecosystem.
