Being known by millions doesn’t make you any cooler in the eyes of your teenager.
Whether it’s hitting the mall to shop for bras or getting trolled on social media for their photo selections, these A-listers’ parenting stories prove that having an incredibly mortifying dad is part of the teen experience — and the angst is part of the package.

Ahead of Father’s Day, here’s a look at some of the most relatable moments from these celebrity dads.
Nick Cannon

As a dad of 12, Nick Cannon has experience raising kids of all ages — but he admitted that watching his eldest daughter Monroe hit teen territory has been “horrifying.”
“I can actually handle my son because he is so much like me,” he said on an October 2024 appearance on The Talk . “But my daughter, she’s like, wearing make up and taking two hours in the bathroom. Like what are you doing in there!”
He goes on to add that the then-13-year-old “lives at Sephora.”
“Why are you putting that stuff on? Do you have another face I don’t know about?” he joked, sharing that he’s spent over an hour in the store waiting for her and her friends to finish looking around.
Dierks Bentley

Back in 2023, the country star documented a trip to the mall with his then-12-year-old daughter Jordan, filming his reaction as she made her way around the bra section at Aerie. Bentley quickly realized he was out of his depth.
While Jordan perused the selection, Bentley tried to get her to decide as quickly as possible, reading aloud some of the options and ruling out anything lace. But when the preteen made it clear she would be shopping for a while, Bentley declared, “We need your mom here. Call mom.”

As many dads before him, and many dads after, Gordon Ramsey fell victim to a TikTok prank at the hands of his then-19-year-old daughter Tilly back in 2021.
In a video shared to the platform, the teen first pretends to make an egg disappear after balancing on top of a bottle of water. As the chef leans forward to see if the egg was really gone, Tilly squeezed the bottle, splashing her dad’s face with water, then cracked the egg on his head and ran away.
And while his personality on television might deem otherwise, Ramsey is a good sport about the whole thing, bursting into laugher as he wipes his face.
Alex Rodriguez

Alex Rodriguez got some major dad points last year when he brought his daughter Ella to an Olivia Rodrigo concert.
“POV: Life as a Teenager’s Dad,” he wrote across the video where he repeatably refers to the Grammy winner as “Rodrigo.”
“Olivia Rodrigo,” Ella clarifies at one point.
“Olivia Rodrigo concert surrounded by 22,000 teenage girls and all I wanna do is go to sleep,” he added. “Oh man, here we go, here goes nothing. Wish me luck, Rodrigo here we go!”
Despite his desire to rest, the former New York Yankee gave a shoutout to the singer in his caption writing, “Props @oliviarodrigo… I won’t mess up your name next time 😂.”

As a dad of four, Mark Wahlberg knows something about the trials and tribulations of raising teenagers.
Wahlberg, who shares kids Ella, Michael, Brendan and Grace with wife Rhea Durham, told PEOPLE in 2023: “I’ve got a teenager who won’t stop playing the video games. I’ve got a daughter who thinks she knows everything and (her parents) are complete idiots in many, many ways.”
Years prior, Mark admitted that parenting then-14-year-old daughter Ella was “a challenge.”
“It’s tough, but people say that they pass through it and they come back to you,” he says. “She wants to go be off and doing her thing.”
He added, “(There’s) a lot of attitude, a lot of aggression, a lot of, ‘You’re the worst, you ruin everything!’”

Before discovering Snapchat, and allowing his two daughters Isabella Eve and Ava Tanya use the platform, Josh Gad says he and his wife Ida Darvish found themselves in the middle of a tale as old as time.
“We are the parents who are screamed at every day of the week by our children saying, ‘Why can’t you just be like everyone else’s parents and let us have unlimited screen time and phone time?’ ” Gad joked to PEOPLE in March. “But the truth is I think we’re both aware of the fact that this technology is addictive, clinically proven to be addictive, and at the same time unavoidable.”
He said he and wife let their older daughter download Snapchat in part due to the platform’s family center with controlled settings, and he now uses it to communicate with her himself.

Being a movie star does not excuse you from getting teased by your kids — just ask Rob Lowe! The actor’s younger son John Owen Lowe made a habit of leaving sarcastic comments under his dad’s Instagram posts, telling Jimmy Fallon on an appearance last summer that he is “trying to keep him humble, man.”
When discussing his humorous responses to dad’s social media presence, John says, “He makes it so easy. They’re layups,” he told Fallon. “Look at these photos!”

Though David Beckham and his daughter Harper clearly have an adorable father-daughter bond, as a now fully-fledged teenager, she doesn’t seem as keen to get smooches from dad anymore.
In a funny video shared to Paris Match‘s TikTok account earlier this year, the 13-year-old is seen playfully dodging her dad’s attempt at kissing her on the mouth. When he tries again, she turns her face to give him her cheek instead.
