Girl Doesn’t Need To Attend Marriage ceremony The place Husband Isn’t Invited

A woman took to the internet to ask advice on how she should handle a situation at a friend’s upcoming weddingThe woman’s friend invited the woman to a wedding, but not her husbandMany people told the woman she shouldn’t go to the wedding, and instead, enjoy the weekend with her husband

Should you go to a wedding even if your spouse isn’t invited? This is the question a woman asked on the internet after receiving an invitation to her friend’s wedding.

The woman shared that she’s not “super close” with the friend, but they see each other at social events and were close in the past. The couple getting married were both invited to the woman’s wedding, and the woman knew that her other friend, who was married, had also been invited with her husband.

The woman shared that the invite is for her only, and she would have to travel for the event and spend the weekend away.

“I can’t help but feel that this is a bit rude, but my friends make it seem like it’s completely normal and that I should attend,” she shared. “I’m strongly leaning towards not going.”

Many people took to the comments to let the woman know that she made the right choice, with many saying that she doesn’t have to go just because she was invited.

“An invitation is not a contract,” one person wrote. “You don’t have to attend, and you don’t need to give a reason. Just RSVP with a no and enjoy that time with your hubby.”

One person wrote, “I feel like ‘I don’t want to’ should be a valid reason to decline a wedding invite unless it’s someone you’re close with. It’s not about a perceived slight against your husband as much as traveling to a different city by yourself and going to a wedding without a +1 isn’t fun, and you shouldn’t spend your money on things that aren’t fun for you.”

Another commenter suggested checking in with the bride-to-be to find out why the woman’s husband wasn’t invited.

“Seems like a simple RSVP not attending is in order. Maybe their budget is stretched. But it’s not normal to only invite one spouse. If it were just a bf, maybe, not a husband, though,” the commenter continued. “Maybe check with her to see if there was some meaning behind it after the event. In the meantime, send your regards and don’t dwell on it.”

The woman who made the post responded to that comment and said, “I’m pretty sure it’s just a budget thing! If I didn’t have to travel, I would have just gone, but having to travel and spend the weekend away is making it difficult to make that decision. But I think I’ll just RSVP no.”
