The residents of Hope Valley are coming back for another season of When Calls the Heart.

The Hallmark Channel series, set in the early 20th century, follows school teacher Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) as she moves from the city to a small town to teach and explores the hardships of life in Hope Valley, along with friendship, romance and all of the life lessons in between.

The long-running show — which premiered in January 2014 — was renewed for season 13, with a premiere date set for 2026. The announcement was made during the season 12 finale in March 2025.

The latest installment of When Calls the Heart left fans on the edges of their seats as several main characters faced new paths forward, some of which might take them away from Hope Valley, at least for the time being.

While not much is known about season 13 yet, the showrunner has shared a few clues on what fans might be able to expect next from the Hallmark series.

Here’s everything to know about When Calls the Heart season 13, including what the cast and showrunner have teased.

Who is in the When Calls the Heart season 13 cast?

While there isn’t official confirmation of all the characters coming back to Hope Valley for another season, several cast members have teased their return on social media.

In April 2025, Pascale Hutton, who plays Rosemary Coulter, shared a post on Instagram posing with her on-screen husband, Kavan Smith, who portrays Leland Coulter, and their fictional daughter, Marigold. In the caption, Hutton teased season 13 of the series, writing, “The Coulters can’t wait to see you next year!”

Amanda Wong, who portrays Mei Sou on the series, also celebrated the show’s renewal on social media. Alongside a mirror selfie posing in her character’s outfit, Wong wrote, “Did you hear the news?!?! We’ll be back for season 13!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️ Thank you for joining us for another season of when calls the heart.”

Meanwhile, Jaeda Lily Miller, who plays Allie Grant, shared a photo posing with Krakow, Kevin McGarry and Hyland Goodrich, who portray Elizabeth, Nathan Grant and Jack Thornton Jr., respectively. Miller alluded to the characters returning for another season in the caption, writing in part, “I hope you all have enjoyed watching season 12 almost as much as I enjoyed filming it! See u next year in Hope Valley.”

The official When Calls the Heart Instagram page also hinted at the fate of another character — Lucas Bouchard, portrayed by Chris McNally. On Instagramthe account posed the question, “What does season thirteen have in store for Lucas? We can’t wait to find out!”

What will When Calls the Heart season 13 be about?

The season 12 finale of When Calls the Heart left the future of several characters up in the air, including central characters Elizabeth, Nathan, Jack Jr. and Allie.

The final episode of the season showed Elizabeth and her son ready to move from Hope Valley to Cape Fullerton to seek care for Jack Jr.’s diabetes. However, they were stopped by Elizabeth’s love interest, Nathan, who said he and his niece and adopted daughter, Allie, would leave Hope Valley with them.

Joy Gregory, who will serve as a showrunner for season 13, appeared on the The Official Hearties Aftershow and gave fans a glimmer of what could potentially come in the next season.

“I am so excited that we got to launch them toward Cape Fullerton to literally put them on new territory, but they’re also very much on new territory,” she explained of Elizabeth and Nathan. “Now they’re going to co-parent someone who has a chronic illness.”

Gregory also shared that the show would continue to hone in on “watching their relationship mature together,” including “good times and challenges.”

The new episodes won’t just focus on Elizabeth and Nathan; they will also include Allie’s growth into young adulthood and her friendship with Oliver Garrett (Jacob Shoemay), as well as lean further into the storyline of Minnie Canfield (Natasha Burnett).

Whether Elizabeth and Nathan will stay in Cape Fullerton remains to be seen, though Gregory did revealed, “We’re still discussing how much we’ll show of their time in Cape Fullerton, but let me just say that home is where the heart is, and all of our hearts are in Hope Valley.”

When will When Calls the Heart season 13 be filmed?

It’s unclear when production of When Calls the Heart season 13 will begin, but based on previous seasons, production might happen throughout the summer and fall.

In 2024, Krakow marked the start and end of filming for season 12 of the series on Instagram. That July, she shared a silly video from set featuring McGarry, writing in the caption, “What a delight it’s been to be back on set (w/ Elizabeth’s lil boo thang 😂) for SEASON 12 of @wcth_tv!”

Production wrapped at the beginning of November 2024, with Krakow commemorating the moment with a snap of McGarry and her feet on Instagram.

“That’s a wrap on Season 12 of @wcth_tv!” she penned. “We are so grateful and proud and exhausted! Can’t wait to share this special season with all of you!”

Additionally, the show’s Instagram has recently shared glimpses of the cast getting fitted for their costumes.
