After being ousted from The S.E.T. last month following controversial remarks about ex-bandmates in Turnstile and others, guitarist Brady Ebert has quickly bounced back, forming a new outfit called Experience.
Ebert is joined by drummer Ben Rogers and bassist Bobby Faithful, with several clips of the band jamming already circulating online. Recording sessions for an EP are planned in Nashville, TN, with producer Sean Small, known for work with Lizzo and Nelly, on board.
Ebert’s time in The S.E.T. was brief – he was fired just a month before the release of the band’s debut EP, which dropped on March 6.
The band issued a statement on February 6, saying: “Brady is no longer a member of The S.E.T. We will not stand by his ridiculous comments and behavior toward the members of our band and our community. We will continue to put on for Baltimore hardcore and thank everyone for their support.”
Responding via Instagram, Ebert denied making statements outside of comments about Turnstile, writing: “Have no clue what statements ‘The set’ (self evident truth – a name I came up with btw) but I haven’t made any statements about anyone except turnstile that arent completely true.”
He added that he had been blocked from the band’s Instagram for about a week and that he had communicated with band members as recently as a few days ago, but had received no response. Despite the controversy, Experience appears poised to make an immediate impact on the hardcore scene, with EP plans underway.
