Bride, Groom and Visitor’s Helicopter Dance Transfer at Marriage ceremony Ends in Catastrophe

A bride and a groom had a bit of a crash landing at their wedding.

The couple, who wed in Guadalajara, Mexico, were videoed attempting to do an unforgettable dance move: the helicopter, according to a Storyful video shared by ABC News. However, things went completely awry for the couple midway through the dance.

In the video captured by guest Lisa Fernandez Miller, the groom could be seen on another man’s shoulders with his feet hooked under the bride’s arms. The man in the middle could be seen twirling both around and gaining speed as the bride’s feet lifted off the floor.

Several wedding party guests took a step back, forming a circle to give the trio some room. Some guests even took their phones out to film the momentous occasion.

However, while the couple successfully spun around a few times pulling off the helicopter dance move, the friend in the middle could be seen losing his balance at one point and veering off to the side. The trio then crashed to the ground.

Several attendees could be seen immediately springing into action as they walked over to the trio on the ground and checked if they were okay. A group of people could also be seen helping the bride back up onto her feet while other guests tried to get the groom and his friend back up as well.

Miller told Storyful that the newlyweds and their friend were not hurt by the fall, though they did walk away with a funny story to tell others.

This isn’t the first time a couple has attempted a memorable move at their wedding to unfavorable results. One couple previously attempted to do the Dirty Dancing routine — along with its iconic lift — set to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.”

However, when the time came for the move, the bride slipped from the lift. Luckily, her groom caught her and brought her back down gently on the dance floor. The couple appeared to have a laugh before attempting the lift one more time at the end of the dance.

Their second attempt was much more successful and the groom was able to walk a few paces with his bride holding her pose above his head for several seconds before coming back down to the ground.

“I was just thinking how amazing it all was and laughing to myself, thinking about how all our guests must have thought this was hilarious,” the bride told PEOPLE of the lift. “I honestly think I had accepted my fate in regard to whatever was going to happen with the lift…”
