Candace Cameron Bure bans this one genre from her household.
On the Tuesday, June 10, episode of The Candace Cameron Bure podcastthe Full House star, 49, revealed that she doesn’t allow anyone to watch anything horror-related in her home. The actress said the genre could open up “a portal” to allow bad things to enter someone’s home.
“In our house as a mom, I feel like you guys make fun of me when I talk about — they make fun of me all the time — but particularly when I’m serious about a spiritual thing happening, and then they’re rolling their eyes at me,” she said, adding that her children and husband “laugh at me because of the portal. I’m like, ‘You’re opening up a portal.’”
Bure went on to explain what she meant by her statement. “If you’re watching this or you’re playing this video game, or whatever, that’s a portal that could let stuff inside our home,” she said. “I don’t even want someone watching a scary movie in our house on the TV, because to me, that’s just a portal.”

Bure shares her three children with her husband Valeri Bure. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Natasha, 26, a few years into their marriage, followed by their sons Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23.
“We are a very close family and no matter what’s on the schedule, we all stick together,” Candace told PEOPLE in 2011. “We have dinner together just about every night and our weekends are all about having fun together. My time is so short with them and I know that when they start driving, it will start to change. But for now, I keep them close.”
Since then, all her kids have left the nest, but the family still spends plenty of time together. The actress often shares family photos on social media, some of which are met with criticism.
“It just comes with the territory and I can handle it,” she said in 2021. “But the second someone starts to criticize my children, or say negative things like (that), mama bear comes out.”

Bure didn’t hold back in January when online “haters” criticized a photo of her family she posted. After receiving several “unkind comments,” she clapped back in a social media post that read, “Do you think it’s funny to criticize someone’s children? To make jokes about them? To critique our poses? The direction in which we are looking? Our physical appearance and facial expressions?”
“I wished blessings upon everyone as I shared it in the spirit of a happy new year, yet so many of you came back with jokes about our appearance and criticism of what you thought would have been a better photo. Shame on you,” she continued, adding at the time that “it doesn’t matter if you’re 10 or 90 years old, rude is rude.”
Although she’s not afraid to turn into a mama bear on social media to protect her kids, the actress also hilariously called out her kids. After discovering that she wasn’t able to view some of their online activities, she joked in a video“I don’t know why my kids block me on their Stories because I still see them on my other work Instagram.”
The mother of three added in the caption of her Instagram post, “I’m not a regular mom. I’m not a cool mom either 😎.”
