ICE NINE KILLS Pushes Merch Utilizing AI-Generated Imagery


Ice Nine Kills is pushing a merch sale on their website sadly with the assistance of AI-generated slop. The band posted the below story to their Instagram alongside a pretty poorly-rendered version of Freddy Kruger and Jason. Why the band didn’t just use actual photos of their own merch – or hire an actual artist who’s surely hustling their asses off to make ends meet – is completely beyond me.

And if you’d like to check this for yourself, I personally used WasItAI and HiveModeration to see if the image was AI. You can run these tests yourselves. You can also just use your eyes and look at any of the super weird aspects like:

The knives are upsidedown

What is Freddy holding?

Why are two of the bottles behind a line but the third is on it? That’s some Penrose Triangle nonsense

Name any single item on that side table. I’ll wait

Ice Nine Kills has yet to comment on this despite some folks on Reddit being pretty aware of it, and not thrilled. The image is (via Lambgoat):
