Krispy Kreme wants customers to feel less anxious about the REAL ID deadline that went into effect this week.
The doughnut chain is aiming to sweeten Americans’ Wednesday by offering all guests one free Original Glazed doughnut on May 7, both in store or at the drive-thru.

The brand notes that the deal is limited to one doughnut per customer, but no purchase is necessary — and unlike with air travel, no ID is required.
“The DMV can be stressful enough in normal times, but we know May 7 is going to be ‘next level’ stress for many Americans trying to get their REAL ID,” Krispy Kreme said in a press release shared with PEOPLE. “So, we’re going to keep this simple.”
Starting May 7, all U.S. adults will be required to have a REAL ID or another accepted form of identification in order to access federal facilities, when entering nuclear power plants and when boarding any commercial aircraft, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Krispy Kreme is also marking Mother’s Day by rolling out four new mini doughnuts.
The sweet treats, which are available through Sunday, May 11, include the Mini Strawberry Sunshine Doughnut, Mini Chocolate Chip Cookie Delight Doughnut, Mini Chocolate Iced Yellow Heart Doughnut and Mini Sparkly Vanilla Sunset Doughnut.
Last month, the doughnut purveyor also offered opportunities for customers to score free Original Glazed Doughnuts.
On April 14, the day Blue Origin completed Flight NS-31, the chain gave away two doughnuts per customer in honor of a special star, Planetary Nebula NGC 1514.
The following day, Krispy Kreme brightened Tax Day with a second promotion.
All customers who purchased a box of a dozen doughnuts on April 15 received a second box for the price of just the sales tax.
