Netflix’s Kinda Pregnant is a story of both love and motherhood — which much of the cast has experienced in their own lives.
Directed by Tyler Spindel, the comedy follows Lainy (Amy Schumer), a teacher who has split from her boyfriend (Damon Wayans Jr.), crushing her dreams of settling down and starting a family. Reeling from the heartbreak — and envious of the many expectant mothers around her — Lainy decides to put on a pretend baby bump and fake a pregnancy.

At the beginning of her stunt, Lainy basks in the newfound perks: compliments on her “glowing” skin, strangers offering their subway seats and unexpected friendships from a pre-natal yoga class. But things take a complicated turn when she meets her dream guy, Josh (Will Forte), and has to maintain the charade.
In January 2025, Schumer — who also produced the movie alongside Adam Sandler — opened up to PEOPLE about costarring with a “great romantic lead” like Forte.
“It’s a really special thing to build that kind of trust with someone, to get used to kissing someone other than your partner and have it not be a big deal,” the comedian said.
While Schumer and Forte have on-screen chemistry as Lainy and Josh, they have their own romances in real life. Schumer married her husband, Chris Fischer, in February 2018, and Forte wed his wife, Olivia Modling, in July 2021.
Here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of the Kinda Pregnant cast.

Amy Schumer stars in Kinda Pregnant as Lainy, an English teacher in Brooklyn who decides to wear a fake baby bump after recently ending her relationship and getting jealous of her newly pregnant best friend. But off-screen, there’s nothing pretend about her love story with her husband, Chris Fischer.
The Life and Beth actress was first linked to the professional chef in late 2017. The pair got married in a private ceremony in Malibu, Calif., on Feb. 13, 2018, and welcomed their son, Gene David, on May 5, 2019.
During a February 2024 appearance on The ViewSchumer shared that they have a special way of celebrating their anniversary each year.
“We are kind of romantic about it because we got married the day before Valentine’s Day,” she said. “And so we watch our wedding vows … we have a little video we watch.”
Will Forte and Olivia Modling

Kinda Pregnant’s Will Forte stars as Josh, who Lainy meets in a coffee shop after her breakup and later learns is her friend’s recently single brother — and her dream man.
In real life, the SNL alum met his wife, Olivia Modling, at a party in 2018 and got engaged over the holidays the following year. They had a surprise last-minute wedding in July 2021, after their initial 2020 plans got altered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following their nuptials, Forte told PEOPLE in December 2021 that it’s “fun and exciting” to call Modling his “wife.”
“She’s great,” he said. “I needed to find somebody who was a very patient person and she’s the most patient, understanding woman in the world. I’m feeling very happy and very lucky these days.”
The pair also share two daughters: Zoe Douglas and Cecilia.

While Jillian Bell’s character Kate — Lainy’s best friend — is expecting a child with her husband Mark (Joel David Moore), the comedian is engaged to her fiancé, Luke McGarry.
In October 2023, Bell shared an Instagram post in honor of his birthday, writing, “You are kind and cute and made up of all the good things.”
While speaking to PEOPLE at Kinda Pregnant’s world premiere on Feb. 3, Bell shared that the craziest thing she has done for love occurred six months into her relationship with McGarry when she asked if he thought they were “probably getting married.”
“He was like, ‘Oh!’ ” she recalled. “And now we are engaged so it worked out, but that was a crazy bold move that early into a relationship.”

Much like her Kinda Pregnant character Megan, Brianne Howey is both a wife and mother.
After meeting through mutual friends at a bar years earlier, the Ginny & Georgia star and her husband Matt Ziering tied the knot in Palos Verdes, Calif., on July 24, 2021.
“It was the most beautiful feeling to be surrounded by so many people we love,” Howey told PEOPLE that month. “The night was more magical than I could have ever imagined.”
In June 2023, they welcomed their first child.

Urzila Carlson portrays Fallon, one of Lainy’s co-workers, in Kinda Pregnant.
Off-screen, the actress shares two kids — a son and daughter — with her ex-wife, whom Carlson met at her second comedy gig and remains friends with.
“After a while we decided to have a family, and caretaking became her job,” Carlson told Out In Jersey in November 2024. “Of course, we get along now.”

In Kinda Pregnant, Lizze Broadway portrays a young teacher named Shirley, who is expecting a child with Rawn (Alex Moffat).
In real life, the actress told PEOPLE at the film’s premiere that she is “so single.”

Although his character Mark is married to Kate in Kinda Pregnant, Joel David Moore found love away from the big screen with his wife, Katherine Braham — whom he wrote on Instagram in January 2017 “changed (his) life forever.”
In February 2023, he shared a Valentine’s Day tribute for Katherine on Instagramwriting, “Night and day, you’re the one.”
The pair share two children, daughter Esme and son Oliver “Ollie” Moore, who made his acting debut alongside his dad in 2017’s Avatar: The Way of Water before he had even turned 1.
But, that doesn’t mean Ollie will be rushing to follow in his father’s footsteps.
“I am trying to raise my children to be as outside of the industry as possible, so they can make their own decisions about whether they want to enter this crazy game,” Moore told PEOPLE in January 2023.
Damon Wayans Jr. and Samara Saraiva

Damon Wayans Jr. plays Dave, Lainy’s former boyfriend who asked her for a threesome during a romantic dinner — when she thought he was getting ready to propose. In real life, however, he’s focused on one woman: his wife, Samara Saraiva.
The New Girl alum first met Saraiva during a dinner that was meant to be a set up between him and her cousin. Though the two didn’t click at first, they reconnected soon after at a party.
Wayans has not shared many details about their wedding, though he confirmed on Sherri in October 2024 that he and his wife had been married for eight years at the time.
During an October 2018 interview with BUILDWayans said he is “crazy” about his wife.
“I think she’s awesome and we have a lot of fun together,” the actor said.
While Wayans’ Kinda Pregnant character is shocked — and freaked out — to learn of Lainy’s “pregnancy,” he and Saraiva share a blended family of six children.
Alex Moffat and Caroline Rau

Alex Moffat’s Kinda Pregnant character Rawn is expecting a child with Shirley, but off-screen, he is married to his wife, Caroline Rau.
During a November 2024 appearance on Why Won’t You Date Me? with Nicole Byerthe SNL alum shared that he and the fellow comedian met while at an audition for a Velveeta’s Cheese commercial in October 2012.
“Immediately, my heart was a flutter,” he said. “We chit-chat a little bit before going in, we realize we grew up in houses behind each other in the burbs of Chicago … our moms had been in the same book club, I knew her brother.”
In September 2015, Moffat proposed to Rau — by putting the ring in a box of Velveeta. Now married, “Velveeta Day” has become an annual celebration for the pair every October, where they make and eat the brand’s mac and cheese as a tribute to their meet-cute anniversary.
Moffat and Rau have since welcomed their daughter, Everett, in January 2021.
