MISUMI Group Inc., a supplier of mechanical components for the manufacturing industry, yesterday announced that it is acquiring Fictiv for $350 million. Once the all-cash transaction closes, the global supply chain company will join MISUMI.
With the transaction, MISUMI said it will accelerate development of systems that use artificial intelligence through digitally native tools built on top of robust physical infrastructure. The Tokyo-based company said this will allow it to build real-world products in an efficient, scalable way.
“Fictiv and MISUMI share a joint vision to make world-class manufacturing and supply chain capabilities easier, more accessible, more intelligent, and democratized,” said Dave Evans, the co-founder and CEO of Fictiv. “Giving more teams the tools to take their ideas from concept to reality will unlock innovation to fuel the advancements we want to see in the world.”
Shifts in trade policy and global tariffs, geopolitical uncertainty, logistics disruptions, and technology developments are driving volatility and evolution in the manufacturing and supply chain industries, noted the companies. MISUMI said these challenges are exposing traditional production methods that are expensive, inefficient, and opaque, creating inordinate risk in building and scaling products.
Fictiv builds on AI-driven workflows
San Francisco-based Fictiv said its global manufacturing supply chain brings together AI-driven technology workflows, a global manufacturing network, and teams of local experts. The company‘s stated goal is to simplify the process of sourcing custom mechanical components.
To date, Fictiv said it has produced more than 35 million commercial and prototype components for some of the world’s most innovative products across early-stage and large enterprises in the aerospace, robotics, clean energy, consumer, and automotive sectors. It claimed that customer adoption has grown rapidly, accelerated further by the recent launch of production manufacturing solutions.
Manufacturers can use Fictiv’s four global manufacturing centers in India, Mexico, China, and the U.S., to access high-quality production, optimize supply chain logistics, and mitigate supply chain risk, said the company.

MISUMI to produce components at scale
MISUMI supplies mechanical components, tools, consumables, and other products to more than 318,000 companies worldwide.
