PARADISE LOST Components Methods With Drummer GUIDO ZIMA

Welcome back to another episode of “Band Splits With Their Drummer”! Cynic did it, In Flames did it, The Who weirdly did it twice to the same guy, and even Foo Fighters did it. Now Paradise Lost is jumping into the fray as they’ve announced they’re parting ways with drummer Guido Zima.

Zima joined Paradise Lost in 2023, about one year after Waltteri Väyrynen left the band to go join Opeth. Paradise Lost issued the following statement on Zima: “We’ve made the difficult creative decision to part ways with our drummer, Guido Zima. We thank Guido for his contributions to the band and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. We appreciate your continued support and understanding, and we’re looking forward to the next chapter with the band.”

Paradise Lost just announced a bunch of European tour dates with Messa, High Parasite, and Lacrimas Profundere as the openers. Those dates come a few months after Paradise Lost embarks on their The Devil Embraced mini-US tour for this May, which takes place between Paradise Lost’s sets at Milwaukee Metal Fest and Maryland Deathfest. Tickets are available here.

As for the first new Paradise Lost record since 2020, it’s done being recorded and is hopefully due out this year. According to guitarist Aaron Aedy in a recent interview with Alejandrosis: “It’s not fully mixed yet, but it’s recorded.”

When asked if he could talk a little about how the new record sounded, Aedy declined: “No. It’s like opening your presents before Christmas. No, I don’t wanna go into the new album too much just yet, ’cause I’ll wait to see what it’s like when it’s mixed. It’s almost finished, but not quite.”
