The afternoon sun shone on the sprawling Emma Darnell Aviation Museum & Conference Center when I arrived at the front doors today. That glow wasn’t limited to the facade — a vibrant array of colorful artworks awaited me just inside the doors.
Established in 2010, the 16,200 square-foot facility was initiated by a community advisory group in 1999 and is operated by the Fulton County Arts Council. The facility is located on the grounds of Fulton County’s “Charlie Brown” airport along Fulton Industrial Boulevard on the west side of Atlanta. The space includes a large multipurpose room, a 10,000 square-foot outdoor plaza and green space, and multiple exhibition spaces.
Today, the Emma Darnell Aviation Museum & Conference Center is currently displaying three exhibits — The Sky Was Never The Limit solo show by Grace Kisa; Tyreek Morrison’s If You Know, You Know; and The Arts Among Us, a group exhibit featuring works by instructors and students at the facility.
Mark your calendars for tomorrow, Saturday June 7, Grace Kisa will host an artist talk from 12-2 p.m., and Tyreek Morrison will host an artist talk from 2-4 p.m. It’s also your last chance to see Kisa’s exhibition as well as The Arts Among Usboth of which close tomorrow.
