Realbotix releases Robotic AI Imaginative and prescient System for its humanoids

Realbotix Corp. today launched its proprietary Realbotix Robotic AI Vision System, which it claimed “sets a new standard for realism and adaptability in humanoid robots.” The system includes face and object recognition, facial tracking, and real-time scene-detection capabilities.

“The Realbotix AI Vision System marks a step forward in AI robotics. By adding intelligent vision, the use cases for our robots are enhanced,” stated Andrew Kiguel, CEO of Realbotix. “With this development, Realbotix reaffirms its commitment to redefining the role of robots in our lives, offering solutions that improve the use cases for robots in social or business settings.”

Founded in 2011, Realbotix has built humanoid robots with embedded vision and artificial intelligence. They are designed for human-like appearance and social interactions, said the Las Vegas-based company. It and Kind Humanoid (recently acquired by 1X Technologies) are working on systems for household use.

Meanwhile, other humanoid developers, such as Agility Robotics, Boston Dynamics, and Figure AI, are working on commercial and industrial applications.

Last week, Realbotix reported its interim financial results for the three months ended Dec. 31, 2024, with a revenue increase to $858,000, a fourfold increase over the same quarter a year earlier. The company also noted that U.S.-Canada tariffs would have an “insignificant” effect on its operations.

At the 2025 Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston on April 30 and May 1, sessions will include “The State of Humanoids” and “Redesigning Atlas: Boston Dynamics on the Future of Humanoids.”

Realbotix Robotic AI Vision System adds awareness

The new AI vision system is “designed to elevate user interaction and provide real-time awareness,” according to Realbotix. “This system transforms how robots recognize, understand, and respond to their surroundings.”

The company added that these features will “allow for enhanced robot use cases and foster heightened situational awareness.”

Human recognition and realistic interaction: Robots equipped with the Robotic AI Vision System can detect human presence and adjust their facial expressions dynamically, creating emotionally engaging and natural responses that minimize the “uncanny valley” effect, Realbotix asserted.
Facial recognition and personalized experiences: Users can upload facial data through the Realbotix Robot Controller, allowing robots to remember and personalize interactions with individuals. This capability could be helpful in settings such as social companionship, healthcare, and customer service.
Object identification and scene awareness: The company said real-time object detection and scene analysis enable robots to provide assistance across diverse environments, from smart homes to retail security and beyond.
Multimodal AI integration: By using cloud-based multimodal AI, the Realbotix AI Vision System continuously updates its understanding of scenes, recognizing objects, people, and behaviors to generate adaptive, context-aware responses, the company said.
Conversational AI fusion: The system integrates real-time vision processing with advanced large language models (LLMs), enabling robots to engage in smarter, more contextually nuanced conversations.

Humanoids intended for wide use cases

Realbotix said its Robotic AI Vision System can enable applications across industries:

Healthcare: It said the system could help recognize patients, monitor movements, and provide contextual assistance.
Retail and security: Robots using AI and vision can improve store management and safety by identifying potential shoplifters, monitoring activity, and optimizing customer engagement, the company said.
Smart homes: Social robots can streamline daily tasks with personalized responses for household members.
Entertainment and social robotics: Adaptive facial expressions and real-time interaction with environmental changes can elevate the user experience, said Realbotix.

Complementing the AI vision System is Realbotix’s patented realistic eyeball technology, which powers the vision system. Like many parts of the robot, the eye is also modular, which allows for different eye colors.

The company said this innovation enhances the lifelike appearance of its robots and user engagement. It showed the beta version of the system at the 2025 Consumer Electronic Show (CES). Realbotix said advanced robotics have the potential “to bridge the gap between artificial intelligence and human connection.’

The Realbotix Robotic AI Vision System is available for customers purchasing Realbotix robots, with deliveries planned for later this year. The company also said it will allow for current owners to retrofit existing models.
