In order to enable companies of all size to exploit the full potential of automation solutions and become more competitive, Igus now opens the RBTX Academy. Here, interested parties can work directly on real robots to learn the basics of robot technology or to deepen their skills in robot programming. For the first time, the RBTX Academy opened its gates on January 25th on the factory premises in Cologne Porz-Lind organized the dress rehearsal for the Robocup Junior 2025-one of the best-known and largest robotics competitions for pupils worldwide.
Robots are less and less privilege of large companies with sufficient know-how and budget. Small and medium-sized companies also succeed in the automation transformation thanks to the marketplace RBTX from Igus, which offers cost-effective and turnkey robotic solutions. In order to further simplify operations of such solutions, Igus opened the RBTX Academy on January 25, 2025. “Customers who buy a low-cost robot via our marketplace can now book training courses to learn the robot programming from scratch or further deepen their skills,” says Alexander Mühlens, authorized signatory and head of the low-cost automation at Igus. “The practical training courses take place in Cologne in small groups in a family atmosphere and are tailored to the individual needs of the participants in order to offer the greatest possible benefits. We will also roll out the offer at other locations such as Munich and Osnabrück and internationally in countries such as the USA, China, Great Britain, Italy and Spain. ”Interested parties can now register via the IGUS website. At the same time, the dress rehearsal for the Robocup Junior 2025 took place, the visitors of which have already got to know the Academy. With the dress rehearsal, Igus gives students the opportunity to test their self-developed robots in a competition situation before going to the NRW qualification tournament. From simple movement to complex integration in system landscapes
In the practical training of the RBTX Academy, the participants learn, for example, how to deal with the IGUS Robot Control control software. The software creates a virtual twin of the robot, which simulates movements and actions in real time. In this way, movement sequences can be planned, tested and optimized via a user -friendly surface. The programs can then be transferred to the real robot in the next step, which performs the tasks precisely – for example on the joint arm robot Rebel Cobot, which is largely made of high -performance plastic and therefore only costs 4,970 euros. “This method enables efficient automation even for beginners. You can usually create the first simple movements within an hour, ”says Mühlens. Igus also offers expert training to get deeper into programming. “For example, participants learn to integrate low-cost robots into complex automation environments and have them interacted with other systems.” In addition to the Igus Robot Control, the course participants can also train with controls from other manufacturers-including Epson, Universal Robot and Dobot.

During the training, you also have the opportunity to visit the 400 square meter customer testing area. There Igus presents a selection of robotics applications with products from over 130 leading manufacturers, which can also be found online on the RBTX marketplace. Because a robot alone does not make a finished solution.
