Ryan Reynolds is celebrating the latest triumph of friend Hugh Jackman.
The Red Notice actor, 48, made a surprise appearance at the opening night of Jackman’s From New York, with Love concert series on Saturday, Jan. 24 — when Jackman, 56, performed a number of songs from past roles, including Les Misérables and The Greatest Showman.

On Jan. 25, Reynolds shared a series of Instagram Stories posts commending his Deadpool & Wolverine costar for his “immersive” stage presence.
“This fella puts on a show. I had no idea he could sing and dance. I knew he could stab and grunt,” Reynolds wrote in a first post, poking fun at Jackman’s starring role as Wolverine in various Marvel projects.
“The show is an immersive retrospective and jamboree of feeling, giggles and joy,” Reynolds continued.
He then added that Jackman’s tribute during the show to Gus Worland and his Gotcha4Life Foundation resulted in “not on dry eye in the house.”

Reynolds watched the show with Shawn Levy. In another Instagram Stories post, the father of four shared a selfie of himself and the actor-filmmaker taken during the show.
“I give it (the show) 4.9 stars out of 5 because I was told there’d be a car chase,” Reynolds concluded.

Reynolds also captured a photo of Jackman rocking out front and center on stage against a technicolor backdrop in a third Instagram Stories post.
The star surprised the audience during the show’s impromptu “Hugh & A” session. Reynolds initially claimed that he expected From New York, with Love to be “a comedy version of Les Mis as a one-man show.”
Jackman was the first major actor Reynolds worked with, he then said, adding that he was quickly struck by the example Jackman set for others while filming.
“He showed a kind of courtesy and gentleness and curiosity, and he put value into every single crew member that we were working with,” Reynolds explained.

He added, “I love this man, I care about this man. He is, his is genuinely the best human being I know. And I have four children!”
Jackman — who first trolled his “fifth best friend” for asking for a free ticket — returned the love and thanked him for showing up to support him.
