Festival season is not just looming, or impending – it’s within sight. Reservations have been made, tents have been bought, timetables have been dissected to ensure the appropriate sets are seen, it’s here. And with that in mind, and a new editor on the other side of the pond (that’s me!), there is a whole new world of festivals for Metal Injection to explore.
Slam Dunk is up first, and they have a pretty interesting history. Established in 2006 in Leeds, England, the originally quite small festival gained its notoriety from taking place outside of university student unions in Northern England before expanding to an additional location, in Southern England, becoming the travelling festival we know it as today.
Nearly 20 years later, this year’s Slam Dunk will boast five different stages with a pretty healthy variety of artists. From pop-rock, to pop-punk, to straight punk, and some good ol’ metal (and metalcore), there really is a little bit for everybody. We know what our bread and butter is, though…
This year’s UK shows will take place on the 24th at Hatfield Park (South) and the 25th at Temple Newsam (North), with further European dates announced with slightly differing lineups. Slam Dunk will be hitting Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and Italy at the end of May until the beginning of June.
