A concerned wife wonders if she’s being “unfair” toward or “jealous” of her husband’s female co-worker after a recent late-night incident.

The woman shared on the U.K. community forum Mumsnet that a ping on her husband’s phone woke them up — and the messenger was his colleague.
“We were in bed. I asked what it was at that time, and he clearly didn’t want to tell me but said it was a colleague and she was just saying thanks for a laugh during their coffee break that day,” the wife recalled.
“I asked to look and it said what a really great friend he is and how he makes her day and the job is such fun and she loves being on his team and working on this new project together,” she continued. “I knew they got on well, but I was uneasy that she sent this email.”

The message resulted in the couple engaging in a “big” fight.
“He said that it’s platonic and that it was a nice thing for her to send him,” she added, before expressing how it all made her feel. “If it hadn’t woken me then I would never have known, which worries me too.”
Now, she’s seeking outside opinions to validate her emotions.
“Am I being unreasonable to think it is not on for her to send this and for him to be ok with it? Or am I being unfair to her and jealous, as he says?” she asked in her post, which included an accompanying poll.

Many readers who voted in the poll sided with her, with 88 percent of over 1,200 voters choosing the “You are NOT being unreasonable” option.
“Why was she thinking about him late at night? That’s weird,” one person commented. “I have colleagues whose company I enjoy, but I don’t email them late at night to tell them.”
Another replied, “Yeah, she’s got her rod out. She’s attached the bait and waiting for the fish (your husband) to take a bite.”
