One of Ibiza’s most storied dancefloors is going dark this summer, at least for your camera roll. Solid Grooves, the London-based collective led by founder Michael Bibi, has announced a full no-phones policy for its 2026 residency at DC-10.
The initiative expands on a limited trial from last summer, when the British house music superstar introduced smartphone-free sessions across three daytime terrace events and the season’s closing party. The response at DC10, a cornerstone of Ibiza’s nightlife sector since the turn of the century, was immediate and overwhelming.
“Last year, I tested the concept, trying to recreate the old essence of Ibiza before phones or distractions,” Bibi said. “It was beautiful, I’ve honestly never felt energy like it. So, this year, we decided to continue the no-phone policy for the entire season.”
The policy will prohibit the capture of photos and videos, as well as flash photography, at all times inside the venue. Solid Grooves said it would share details on enforcement and monitoring in the weeks ahead, noting that attendee safety and enjoyment remain the top priority.
To offer an alternative to smartphone cameras, the team provided disposable film cameras and Polaroids on select dates last season, though it’s unclear at this time whether they’ll do so again.

In today’s war between FOMO and flow state, excessive smartphone usage is entrenched as one of the most contentious flashpoints in the global electronic music scene. Many high-profile venues and DJs have trialled bans at their events in recent years, lamenting the devices for corroding the connection with their fans, whose experiences are diluted by the compulsion to capture the moment.
A grim 2024 study by Heineken reported that 55% of people admitted they prioritize capturing footage of a performance over being present in the moment, even though 13% said they rarely watch back the videos they record anyway.
On the fan side, some argue that ticket-buyers should be free to use their smartphones as they please, while others bemoan them for provoking a sense of trepidation in those who want to dance freely without being documented. That issue has been exacerbated by the swelling popularity of the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, fueling widespread Follow Solid Grooves:
