Sturgill Simpson—who now goes by the moniker Johnny Blue Skies—is ready to get medieval on the intrepid scammer who posted and sold a leaked version of the singer’s latest album, Mutiny After Midnight, directly to Bandcamp over the weekend.
“No ..we are not selling the digital album on bandcamp kids…but somebody pretending to be us is claiming they are,” Simpson posted to Instagram on Sunday (h/t Stereogum). “We are in contact with bandcamp and all appropriate parties in the process, all cc (credit card) and transaction information / IP related info. We got all them tools bitches! All those affected will be refunded and the miserable shit asses responsible will be keelhauled.”
In case the first message wasn’t received, Simpson added, “we’re gonna duke nukem.” I am going to assume Simpson will make good on the refund but not the nukem’ing or keelhauling (for those unversed in ancient torture techniques, being keelhauled is to be tossed overboard and dragged by your own ship).
Mutiny After Midnight is currently available on physical formats only—though it briefly appeared on the official Johnny Blue Skies’ YouTube account ahead of its March 13 premiere date.
