Trump: 4 completely different teams in talks to purchase TikTok

US President Donald Trump announced that there are four different groups interested in buying the US TikTok operations. His administration did not disclose the identities of those behind the groups, but the 47th president confirmed that “all four are good” while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.

The United States Supreme Court initially imposed a ban on TikTok, which took effect on January 19. Following a 13-hour blackout for 70 million Americans, the app returned online due to an executive order from Trump, which postponed the law’s enforcement by 75 days.

We know that one group is led by popular YouTuber Mr. Beast and backed by Roblox co-founder and CEO, while another group is a partnership between LA Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary. Additionally, there have been rumors that Elon Musk and Microsoft are considering submitting an offer.

ByteDance, the company behind the popular social network, is expected to separate its US operations and sell them to an American company, or else face a ban. Representatives have stated multiple times that this is not an option, or at least one that cannot be implemented on short notice.

There is still time until April 4 when we’ll learn TikTok’s fate. We are following the situation closely since we recently joined it as well. Follow us at @gsmarenateam for exclusive content in short-form video, behind-the-scenes looks, and other videos better suited for this platform.
