Jennifer Lopez dressed in tribute to her new film Kiss of the Spider Woman at the New York City premiere on Monday, Oct. 6.

For the occasion, Lopez, 56, stepped out in a sculptural brown and taupe floral patterned gown with a spider-like bodice from designer Harris Reed.

Beauty-wise, she wore her hair in a simple updo to allow for the unique design to take center stage. Her stylist Rob Zangardi pulled together the unique look that embraces method dressing.

The spidery gown was pulled from Reed’s Spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection, which consisted of looks meant “to stand alone, to be individual characters and speak to all aspects of the Harris Reed DNA: David Bowie and Mick Jagger, Victorian lady, and English heritage,” the designer, 29, told Vogueadding, “Pieces that perform for you.”

The film, based on the 1976 novel of the same name written by Argentine writer Manuel Puig, revolves around “Valentín, a political prisoner” who “shares a cell with Molina, convicted for public indecency.” “An unlikely bond forms as Molina recounts a Hollywood musical plot starring Ingrid Luna,” according to the film’s description on IMDb.

The new Kiss of the Spider Woman, which first premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, is a reimagining of the stage musical from Kander, Ebb and Terrence McNally that first starred Chita Rivera on Broadway in 1993. It also draws inspiration from the 1985 film starring William Hurt, Raul Julia and Sônia Braga; all of which are adapted from Puig’s novel.

At the red carpet premiere, Lopez had a surprise reunion with her ex Ben Affleck, who executive produced the film. Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artist Equity production company co-produced the movie.

The stars posed together on the red carpet, and ahead of the screening, Lopez introduced the film and thanked her ex-husband, saying, “Thank you, Ben, this movie wouldn’t have been made without Ben.”
