Atlanta Contemporary Open Studios
This event offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the organization’s Studio Artist Program, where attendees can meet working artists, view their creations and explore purchasing opportunities. Open Studios builds community and offers ever-expanding support for the creation and appreciation of contemporary art. The $20 admission price directly subsidizes studio spaces for participating artists, and it takes place from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on October 16.
Capturing the Spirit of Oakland
Costumed storytellers bring the tales of Oakland Cemetery’s notable and notorious residents to life in living color in this annual exploration of the cemetery after dark. Meet a few of the fascinating characters who made Atlanta into the city we know today. The tours happen October 16 through October 19 and October 23 through October 26.
The winner of the 2023 Tony for best musical is based on David Lindsay-Abaire’s play of the same title and tells the story of a teenage girl who suffers from a condition that rapidly accelerates the aging process. Catch this touring production at the Fox Theatre through October 18.

The affable and charismatic stand-up comedian, writer and actor uses her confessional comedy to bring people together. The North Carolina native made her TV debut on Last Comic Standing in 2010 and would go on to roles in a long list of sitcoms and movies. She’ll bring her Takin’ Care of Biscuits Tour to Atlanta Symphony Hall at 8 p.m. on October 17 and October 18.
Off The Wall @ 725 Ponce: William Downs
Off The Wall @ 725 Ponce lights up the largest screen in the South on the third weekend of the month through November, and this month acclaimed Atlanta artist William Downs will use the façade of 725 Ponce as his canvas, drawing his evocative murals in real time via a tablet positioned on the Beltline. He’ll be accompanied by a live ambient score by Bryan Collins. It happens at 8 p.m. on October 17 and October 18. Downs will also present an artist talk in conjunction with the screening at 4 p.m. on October 16 in Emory University’s Psychology and Interdisciplinary Sciences Building 280.
Jazz on the Lawn: Joe Gransden
Callanwolde Fine Arts Center’s signature music event is celebrating 26 years in 2025, and it will welcome Joe Gransden with his big band and special guest singer Karla Harris at 7:30 p.m. on October 17.
The Atlanta Contemporary Music Collective’s Ocarina Festival will offer a concert of new works for ocarina, ocarina ensembles and mixed chamber ensembles. It happens at 7:30 p.m. October 17 at Freeside Atlanta, 3043 Commerce Way.

Little Five Points Halloween Festival and Parade
It’s the biggest Halloween celebration in the Southeast, and it’s something everyone should experience. The two-day event, which takes place from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day, will welcome more than 100 artists and vendors, along with live music, wrestling and more. The big event is the annual parade, which happens at noon on Sunday, October 19.
The Emory Chamber Music Society’s fall concert features each member of the Vega Quartet taking a solo turn, with works by Tartini, Brahms, Debussy and Grieg. The performance takes place at 8 p.m. October 18 in Cannon Chapel on the Emory Quadrangle.
