Alex Rodriguez is sharing some love to his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
Speaking with PEOPLE at the premiere of his new documentary Alex vs ARod in New York City on Monday, Nov. 3, the former professional baseball player, 50, gave a small shoutout to his ex-wife as he shared what he’s most proud of when it comes to his daughters, Ella, 17, and Natasha, 20.
“So much. I mean, we grew up completely differently, and you would never be able to tell,” Rodriguez says. “They’re very grounded. They’re great, strong young women. They have a wonderful mother, great support system, their dedication, the way they treat people, the way they honor family, on and on and on.”
“It could be another documentary!” the proud dad of two jokes.

Back in March, Rodriguez spoke to PEOPLE again about his girls and opened up about bonding with them as they get older.
“They’re young adults and the relationship dynamic does change a little bit,” the proud dad shared. “I find them giving me more advice than I give them, because they’re much smarter.”
“It’s just really great to see them develop into these strong young women with high self-esteem. I have a wonderful relationship with their mother, Cynthia (Scurtis), and I’m just really proud of the women they’re becoming,” he continued.
“They’re both kind of in the musical theater field, which is interesting because they don’t love sports as much as I do. But it’s good to because they don’t have that hanging over them, which is kind of cool.”
Then in September 2024, Rodriguez gave a peek at his relatable parenting moment when he visited his daughter Natasha at the University of Michigan. The former MLB player shared a TikTok as he spent time with his then-teenage daughter, writing “Life as a College Dad” over the beginning of the video.
“Back at Ann Arbor for the big game today and I got some great tickets for Tasha and I,” he said in the clip. “Pregame passes on the field. We have a great day scheduled. We still haven’t been to the game.”
Although the proud dad made some fun plans for himself and his daughter, he shared that the two had to run some errands first — a job many college parents might remember fondly.
Rodriguez said that he and his daughter had “gone to a furniture store, we’ve gone to Lululemon, Maxwell, some store called Maxwell,” referring to the clothing store Madewell. “And now back in my favorite spot, Trader Joe’s. No game. I’m starving. Why are we here?”
The video then cut to a SpongeBob meme that read, “3 hours later,” and showed Rodriguez walking out of Trader Joe’s with multiple bags. “Guess we’ll catch the last quarter,” the proud dad wrote over the clip.
