Last week, Honor announced that it will showcase its Robot Phone at the “Imaging Technology Launch Event,” held in partnership with Arri. Ahead of the event, the company has now confirmed the smartphone’s official launch date.
In a post on Weibo, Honor revealed that the Robot Phone will go official in China on August 12. Notably, reservations for the smartphone went live in the country earlier this month.
The Weibo post doesn’t reveal any other details of the phone, however, a recent leak suggested that the Robot Phone will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a 6,000mAh battery. It is also tipped to offer a 200MP main camera with a robotic arm gimbal, a 200MP periscope telephoto, and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Meanwhile, an unboxing video of the Honor Robot Phone has also been circulating on Weibo. The leaked video showcases the packaging and the large rear camera module that houses the gimbal.
The robotic arm gimbal sits on the left side of the module, whereas the right houses the other cameras and LED flash. When not in use, the robotic arm sits flush with the body and is protected by a cover.
The video also showcases the animation in the camera app when the gimbal camera is activated. Other than the phone, the box also contains a case, a charging cable, and a 120W charger.
