I Cannot Cease Sporting Goal’s Chocolate Brown Lounge Set

Like most people, I love a cozy lounge set — so much so that I own at least 10. That’s not including the ones shoved so far into the back of my closet that I’ve forgotten them. Despite having tons of options, I can’t stop wearing one in particular.

I tested Target’s Auden Cable Sweater Pants and Cardigan in this fall’s ‘it’ color, chocolate brown, after seeing celebrities like Martha Stewart and Kerry Washington in the same shade. With its rich color, buttery soft knit fabric, and oversized but flattering fit, I practically never take it off. Each piece is $32, which is much cheaper than similar-looking sets from pricier brands, so I might have to snag another while sizes are still in stock.

The cardigan and the pants are both made of breathable and lightweight knit reminiscent of a classic fall sweater. It’s warm without being too hot, and the softness is next level. The material’s weave gives the set some texture without the itchy, stiff feel I get from traditional sweaters, and it has tons of stretch, so the fabric moves with me without ever losing its shape or feeling frumpy, whether I’m lounging on the couch or running an errand.

The design is also flattering. It’s oversized to give it that lounge set look, but it still has shape. The pants skim over my hips and fall in a wide-leg silhouette that I’m currently a big fan of, and the cardigan has banded wrists for a more fitted look. There are also lots of fun details. The pants’ hips and the back of the cardigan have a cable knit pattern that adds some seasonal charm but doesn’t create bulk, and the tortoiseshell buttons add some flair.

My favorite thing about the set, though, is how versatile it is. Typically, I wear the pieces together while I’m lounging at home or if I’m working remotely and have a meeting. I’ve styled them separately, too. The cardigan looks great with a white tank top and a pair of wide-leg jeans, and on days where the temperature climbs higher than normal, I’ve worn the pants with a simple white T-shirt and sneakers. Now, not only do I have a new favorite lounge set, but I also have cute separates I can style all season long.
