Gisele Bündchen is kicking off a new chapter with Joaquim Valente.
A source tells PEOPLE that the Brazilian fashion model’s nuptials with Valente in Surfside, Fla., on Dec. 3 was very small and intimate — exactly the way they wanted.
“Gisele didn’t feel the need to share the wedding with anyone outside of her family unit,” the insider says. “It just reflected where she is in her life right now.”
The couple wed at their home in a small ceremony, months after they welcomed a baby boy together in early 2025, according to TMZ.
The source also tells PEOPLE, “After the baby was born, it felt natural to get married. It wasn’t about outside pressure, or expectations. It was something she wanted for personal reasons and for her family. She’s very, very happy.”
The insider also notes that Bündchen’s new life in Florida with Valente, 38, is a reflection of her new slower-paced lifestyle and renewed focus on her family. The model, 45, also shares son Benjamin Rein, 15, and daughter Vivian Lake, 12, with ex-husband Tom Brady.
“She loves the life she built in Florida. She’s focused on family, home life and a slower pace. She’s selective about work and prioritizes creating a peaceful environment for her children,” the source says.

As for Gisele’s relationship with Valente, the source notes that the newly married couple are in sync when it comes to what they want in life.
“Joaquim came into her life at a moment when she was already ready for a slower, more grounded life,” the insider says. “The two were friends before their relationship turned romantic and the connection developed naturally over time.”
“His calm, low-key approach to life fits with where she is now. She’s focused on family, balance and well-being,” the source adds.

Bündchen began dating the Jiu-Jitsu instructor in June 2023. The pair were first spotted together in November 2022, when they visited Provincia de Puntarenas (a province located on Costa Rica’s coast) with her two kids.

The model originally denied a romantic relationship with her trainer, but a love connection later blossomed between the pair. In February 2024, a source confirmed Bündchen and Valente’s relationship to PEOPLE and noted that their friendship turned into something more romantic.
About eight months later, on Oct. 28, 2024, a source close to Gisele confirmed her pregnancy to PEOPLE, saying the pair are “happy for this new chapter in their life” and “they’re looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family.”
A source previously told PEOPLE in February 2024 that Valente “was a huge comfort” for Bündchen “while she went through her divorce” with Brady. She and the former NFL star filed for divorce on Oct. 28, 2022, after 13 years of marriage.
“Joaquim is a great guy. He is down to earth, kind and inspiring,” an insider said. “… They come from similar backgrounds. They both left Brazil very young. They have both created amazing lives for themselves in the U.S.”
