Miss World contestant Ignacia Fernandez has the world watching her unconventional talent.

While competing at the Miss World Chile 2025 semifinals over the weekend, the 27-year-old model gave a performance that has been making headlines after she used her time on stage to showcase her love for death metal.

“Metal has been a fundamental part of who I am as a person and of my life: a refuge, a source of strength and purpose. Being able to express that on stage @misschilemundo and @chilevision It was an opportunity I deeply value,” she wrote in a Wednesday, Nov. 5 Instagram caption.

Her post contained footage of the televised event as she sang into a microphone beside guitarist Carlos Palma Morán, who was mentioned later in her caption.

They both wore all black, with Fernández displaying a “Las Condes” pageant sash across her body to represent Chile.

Her hair and makeup were styled to beauty queen perfection.

“It was a great experience to break down barriers on broadcast television, to inspire, to be true to myself, and to show that we shouldn’t fear the prejudices of others,” her caption continued.

Fernández also thanked her band, Decessus, which she co-founded. In English, the name roughly translates to “departure” or “death.”

“Thank you to everyone who has shown their support and to everyone who has joined me horns up,” she concluded.

Her viral act helped her rack up new fans, as people flocked to her comment section to cheer her on.

“This makes me so happy!!” one person wrote, adding a single black heart emoji. ​”​very inspiring seeing a metal girlie in the pageant world!”

Another wrote, “I’m so proud that someone is finally breaking down preconceived stereotypes about what is feminine 🖤🔥🔥 This Metal Goddess truly represents me!”

One person even said they were putting Chile ahead of their own country after seeing Fernández rock out: “I already saw in another video that all of Latin America wants you to win, I’m Colombian and you have my vote.”

In an Instagram promo video shared by the Miss World Chile organization on Thursday, Nov. 6, the singer appeared in a recap.

Twenty finalists remain, according to the post.

On Sunday, Nov. 9, the contestants will once again compete to decide “which candidate will be the representative of Chile in the most important beauty contest in the world,” the organization said.
