Industrial rock pioneers Nine Inch Nails will return this fall with TRON: Ares (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), out September 19 via Interscope Records. The album features all-original music created for Disney’s hotly anticipated third installment in the TRON franchise, marking the band’s first-ever film score under the Nine Inch Nails name.
While bandmates Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have scored more than 20 films together — including The Social Network and Soul — TRON: Ares is being billed as a full-fledged Nine Inch Nails album, steeped in the band’s signature menace, melancholy, and momentum. The record collides analog soul with digital dread, a perfect fit for the TRON universe’s neon-lit frontier.
Today, is streaming the glitchy and digital-hellscape-laden music video for the single “As Alive As You Need Me To Be”, their first official new music in five years. The track also appears in the latest TRON: Ares trailer, released in July. The film itself arrives in U.S. theaters on October 10. Pre-orders are available here.
