Redmi Word 17/17 Professional official, OnePlus exits Europe and North America, Week 29 in overview

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro in China with impressive battery specs. The Redmi Note 17 packs an enormous 8,000 mAh cell, while the Pro raises the bar even further with a massive 9,000 mAh battery, among the largest we’ve seen in a smartphone. The duo also gets 120Hz OLED displays, IP69 dust and water resistance, Android 16 with HyperOS, and Qualcomm chipsets, with the Pro additionally featuring a 200 MP main camera and faster 67W charging. The Redmi Note 17 starts at CNY 1,199 ($167/€143), while the Note 17 Pro starts at CNY 1,599 ($223/€191). Both are already on sale in China, with global availability yet to be announced.

With Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event just days away, leaks have all but spoiled the surprise. A fresh batch of official-looking renders shows the entire lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, showing off familiar designs with a handful of new color options. Samsung will make everything official at its July 22 event.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra have also leaked in full, with the Ultra shaping up to be the more premium of the two thanks to a larger display, a 200 MP main camera, up to 16 GB of RAM, and a bigger battery. The standard Fold8 is rumored to adopt a wider cover screen for a more conventional smartphone experience, while both models are expected to run on Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset.

Elsewhere, a new leak suggests one of the biggest Galaxy S27 Ultra rumors may already be dead. Reports claiming Samsung would ditch its signature individual camera rings in favor of a horizontal camera bar are now said to be inaccurate, with the company reportedly sticking to a design much closer to the current Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro has a smaller display – 6.83″. The batteries on both are rated for 1,600 charge cycles.

OnePlus has officially confirmed that it will withdraw from North America and Europe, bringing an end to the brand’s presence in two of its biggest international markets after more than a decade. The company says existing users will continue to receive software updates and after-sales support, but future devices will no longer be sold in the regions. Instead, OnePlus is shifting its focus to China and India, where it says business will continue as usual, while Oppo is expected to take on a larger role in Western markets.

This may be OnePlus' final week

Let’s find out which one.

Google’s upcoming Pixel 11 series has leaked once again, leaving very little to the imagination ahead of its expected August 12 unveiling. An apparent early retailer listing has revealed US pricing, suggesting the base Pixel 11 will start at $899 with 256GB of storage, while also detailing key specifications across the lineup. The standard model is tipped to feature a 6.3-inch OLED display, 12GB of RAM and a nearly 5,000 mAh battery, with the Pro models gaining larger displays, additional memory and upgraded cameras. Fresh renders have also surfaced, showing the Pixel 11 in three colors while retaining Google’s now-familiar camera bar design.

Under the hood, the Pixel 11 family is expected to debut Google’s new 2nm Tensor G6 chipset alongside a new MediaTek-developed modem, marking a major shift in the company’s hardware strategy. The move promises better efficiency, improved AI performance and enhanced connectivity, making this one of the biggest generational upgrades for the Pixel line in recent years. Google is expected to officially announce the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold at its Made by Google event on August 12, where all the leaked details will finally be put to the test.
