Money & How Paying Works
The comanda card: when you enter a club or larger bar, you get a card at the door. Everything you order is added to it. You pay the full tab when you leave. LOSE YOUR COMANDA AND THE FINE IS STEEP – often R$200–500. Take a photo of the card number on your phone.
Couvert artístico: a live-music cover charge, typically R$30–80 added to your bill or charged at entry. Check before you sit down.
Cash and card: cards widely accepted everywhere. Carry some cash (R$50–100) for small botecos or street vendors. Tipping: about 10% (for good service) – often included as ‘serviço’ on the bill; you can add extra if it is not included.

Getting Home Safe
