We finally got our hands on the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra (aka Razr Ultra 2026 in North America), and it’s looking quite familiar.
Here it is next to its predecessor – physically, aside from the different back panel on these specific two models, there’s not much of a difference. You’ve got mostly the same displays – 7.0-inch 165Hz on the inside, 4.0-inch cover screen; the same SoC – a now-aging Snapdragon 8 Elite; even the camera system is unchanged.
The screen on the new Razr Ultra has a few more nits at the high end, and the battery has grown to 5,000mAh (up from 4,700mAh).

Here’s the Razr 70 Ultra next to the regular Razr 70. There are more changes between these two – the 70 has smaller screens – 6.9-inch on the inside, 3.6-inch on the outside; it also has a MediaTek Dimensity 7450X SoC. The Ultra has a non-straightforward edge in imaging – nicer wide and selfie cameras, a lesser, on paper, ultrawide. Finally, the Ultra has 200mAh more on the battery front.
But a more tangible difference is the way they differ in the hand. The Ultra feels more premium and more polished. Better put together, in a sense.

The Razr 70’s grippier finish is nice, but the wood trim finish on the Ultra is just something else entirely. In a world of glossy glass backs (and their derivatives), you notice when you touch something like wood (whether it’s real wood doesn’t change its feel in the hand).

The 7.0-inch display is plentiful, though it’ll feel narrow if you’re coming from a non-folding slab phone. It has the inherent benefit of being able to fit two identical apps in split-screen mode.

The Motorola Razr 70 Ultra is €1,360 in Europe and comes in a single 16/512GB config. The phone comes without a charger in the box, but you do get a cable and a soft-touch case.

The case has a built-in handle. Of course, many people would rightfully prefer to use the wood-trimmed phone caseless, and this editor would too.
